Regular walking has many health benefits. Regular walking can:

  • reduce your risk of heart disease and stroke
  • help to reduce body fat, blood pressure and blood cholesterol
  • help to prevent and control diabetes
  • reduce your risk of developing some cancers
  • help you feel stronger, more energetic and happier
  • help maintain your bone density (less risk of osteoporosis and fractures)
  • improve your overall quality of life and enjoyment of life

It can also be good for your four-legged friend's health too!

The Heart Foundation recommends that you do at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity, such as brisk walking, on most or all days of the week.

'Just Walk It' can help you start being physically active and stay that way. Walking in a group increases your enjoyment, motivation and commitment to being active on a regular basis. It can also help with safety by walking with others.

Remember that it's never too late to start. No matter what your age, you can improve your health and well-being through physical activity.
