About the Human Race

The Human Race is an interactive website promoting and supporting student wellbeing. It reinforces the delivery of quality physical activity and healthy eating initiatives in and across school communities.

It has been developed by the Centre for Health Promotion of the Children Youth and Women's Health Service, South Australia.

The Human Race:

  • incorporates the principles of the Ottawa Charter into a comprehensive curriculum package.
  • is underpinned by the Protocols and Guidelines for Health Promoting Schools
  • integrates ongoing action research, evaluation findings and 'best practice' ideas from successful programs and projects implemented across health and education sectors.
  • responds to consultations conducted with school communities.
  • utilises information technology in a way that promotes accessibility, usability and sustainability.

How to find out more about the Human Race program
We suggest that you now take the Tour and discover what the Human Race offers!

Once a school has registered to become a member of the Human Race they can access:

  • a range of physical activities to choose from and the opportunity to suggest more for the Global Playground
  • information and strategies that help students achieve their personal best
  • motivational awards including messages from celebrities
  • activities to explore the relationship between physical activity, food and health
  • healthy recipe ideas through the Café and connect with other Human Race participants.

The Human Race offers schools an effective educational program uses information technology that will motivate students to become engaged in physical activities away from the computer!

All registration fees paid to the CHP by schools becoming members will be used to further develop the Human Race as a state of the art educational resource for schools around the world.
